It was 1954 when Mr. and Mrs. Andrea Cavanna decided to open, with many sacrifices, a small hotel in the centre of Varazze in a peaceful and quiet position.
Once the works were completed, the first clients welcomed with the excitement typical of when you start a new business were a numerous group of people from Sant'Angelo Lodigiano guided by the town's pharmacist. It was Christmas Eve and it seemed almost like a miracle.

This marked the beginning of Hotel Cristallo's adventure. It is now the favourite destination of families, vacationers and then even athletes and in particular cycling teams. One of these was the then famous Ignis team coached by Mr. Borghi, the owner of the homonymous household appliance industry and one of the men behind the Italian economic boom.
He was so satisfied with the hospitality he and his athletes received that he invited Mr. Cavanna to the factory in Varese and he gave him a modern washing machine. What made the gift even more precious was that it was one of the first in those days.

The Hotel was mentioned for the first time in the Michelin Guide in 1957.
In the years that followed it was extended and then renovated in 1990. The quality of the hospitality has always been superb even in the opinion of the most authoritative Travel Guides:

The hotel is still run by the Cavanna Family up to this very day and it is continuously renewed to offer its guests the utmost comfort whether they come to Varazze on vacation, a business trip or for company meeting.

It has cosy air-conditioned rooms, some of which afford a marvellous view of the sea. It also has stylish common areas, bar, a reception open 24 hours a day, restaurant, gym, Internet point and wi-fi, meeting room, sun-drenched terrace, elevator, garage and parking area. Private beach at 100 meters.

Right by the sea, it is the ideal starting point for many trips: the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Genoa and its aquarium, the Beigua Nature Park, the Cote d'Azur, the Langhe and of course the Ligurian Riviera di Ponente.
